New Collar Bridging The Skill Gap

White-Collar

  • Typically involve performing job duties in an office setting
  • Generally require formal eduction, most often a bachelor’s degree
  • Have a starting wage that is considered generally high, often paid on a salary basis

New-Collar

  • Typically involve more technical or hands-on work, but are not limited to a particular setting
  • May not require a traditional college degree, but do require considerable skills or talent, either learnt or self-taught

Blue-Collar

  • Typically perform labour jobs or work with their hands
  • Formal education not typically required, although vocational or certification courses may be required for some higher-skilled blue-collar jobs
